Interim Head of HR

The Person

Bango is recruiting an experienced HR professional for a fast-growing global team of around 100 people. The role is based in the Bango Cambridge UK office and reports to the CEO.  As a member of the 5 person leadership team, you will take the already strong HR function to a new level of excellence, ready for substantial growth in the years to come. You have energy, vision, imagination, emotional intelligence and the ability to get the job done in a fast-paced environment.  You are comfortable dealing with ambiguity and have strong influencing and negotiating skills.

The Role

You must have a passion for enabling the success of Bango people across a wide range of disciplines to ensure Bango continues to nurture and develop its talent.

You will be responsible for:-

  • Recruitment of a permanent Head of HR.
  • Line management of the HR Advisor focusing on coaching, mentoring and providing feedback.
  • Leading on HR-driven projects that are generally global - with 80% of people in the UK.
  • Providing strategic HR insight and guidance to the leadership team.
  • "Rolling-up your sleeves" to address operational issues as required.
  • Building close working relationships and trust with key stakeholders across the business.
  • Evolving the Bango people plan which includes Talent Management, Organizational Design, Employee Engagement, Performance Management, Employee Relations and People Management.
  • Taking the lead on developing and embedding the SPIRIT values and culture at Bango.
  • Evolving the Bango global HR handbook and clarifying country specific flexibility.
  • Ensuring individual career ambitions, development and life aspirations are complementary to and integrated with the Bango vision. 
  • Running regular surveys of employee engagement.
  • Overseeing and monitoring the induction process for new hires and exit process for leavers and providing appropriate MI to managers and the leadership team.
  • Ensuring Bango enables and promotes self-service via the HRIS.
  • Coordinating learning and development activity, ensuring maximum return on investment to Bango and the employee.
  • Handling immigration needs (visas etc).
  • HR GDPR gap analysis/compliance planning and implementation.

Essentials:

  • Extensive experience in HR roles in high tech businesses
  • CIPD qualified
  • Thorough knowledge of UK employment law and UKVI processes
  • Experience with HR practices in USA and other non UK countries
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills at all levels
  • Line management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High personal integrity

Desirables:

  • High familiarity with software and internet businesses
  • GDPR Experience
