Role

As a Bango Product Owner, you are responsible for delivering Bango’s next-generation payment products, collaborating closely with your team. You will lead Bango’s product roadmap through Product Engineering activities to successful deployment and customer availability.  

You will work closely with Bango’s Technical Product Managers on roadmap requirements and objectives, Solution Architects on technical design, and Sales, Account Management and Project teams to leverage detailed customer understanding.   

As a Bango Product Owner you will have a passion for rapid product development and delivery of innovative products that differentiate within the marketplace.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ‘Product Leadership’ within the Bango Product Engineering Team, providing direction and customer focus to the sprint team and key stakeholders throughout the delivery process.
  • Create and maintain a prioritised product backlog and release calendar, delivering features according to business value or ROI, by working closely with Product Marketing and Technical Product Management.
  • Ensure that requirements are converted into high quality “sprint ready” stories, prepared in good time through proactive backlog management, simplification and refinement of product features.
  • Lead the creation of product release plans and manage communications for delivery of developed features.
  • Take an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful completion of Product Engineering team commitments.
  • Drive innovation in ways of working, to optimise team velocity, and feature value.
  • Support testing, training, and implementation activities.
  • Work in an Agile manner, attending daily stand-ups, story refinement, backlog prioritisation & other ceremonies.
  • Enable a flexible working team culture to facilitate rapid and reliable work estimations which support predictable delivery.
  • Highlight risks and translate technology challenges back to the product managers to support effective decision-making. 
  • Keep abreast with Agile/Scrum best practices and new trends.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience working as a Product Owner using Agile methodologies and in creating a culture of predictable and reliable feature and value delivery.
  • Excellent communication / presentation skills; able to bridge the gap between business (Product Marketing, Technical Product Management and Technical Sales teams) and Software Engineering teams.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with focus on simplicity and efficiency. 
  • Ability to influence and manage stakeholders, to ensure stakeholder and customer objectives are understood, and met, within agreed prioritization.  
  • Ability to work to deadlines, both alone and within a team.
  • Possess a strong understanding of processes, workflows, and contribute to their continuous improvement.  
  • Attention to detail, with sharp analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High personal integrity and self-motivation with a can-do, will-do attitude.  
  • Good technical understanding of SaaS software development in a cloud environment.

Desirables

  • Understanding of Behaviour Driven Development Testing.
  • Flexibility to thrive in a fast-evolving company and market, leveraging your personal ‘drive’ to contribute to the evolution of the team.
  • Understanding of mobile and alternative payment technology (e.g., DCB, wallets).
  • Exposure to product bundling, offers and resale and/or marketing / promotional products.
