The Role

Reporting to SVP APAC, the Account Director role is to closely engage with Japanese Mobile Operators Network Operators (MNOs) and Japanese merchants including global merchant’s Japanese subsidiary and Japanese app developers. This engagement is in the support of existing business and in the development of new business opportunities.

Key responsibilities

  • Operational activities support for existing global merchant’s Payment and Resale
  • Support any business issues and requests arising out of MNOs and the global merchants closely working with teams in UK, SVP APAC and an engineer in the Japan office
  • Conduct regular business reviews with both MNOs and merchants to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Communication support to technical team including technical team in UK and an engineer in the Japan office. This may require intensive Japanese-English translation.
  • Communication point for a main bank under the guidance of SVP, APAC and UK Finance team. This will not include any responsibility of any fund moving operations.

Business Development

  • Assist SVP APAC for MNO sales activities in Japan.

 - New payment and resale routes for major merchants

- Bango Payment and Resale Platform offer to MNOs and resellers 

- Upgrade of major merchant routes to benefit from Bango Platform

- Develop new business for other payment mechanisms beyond DCB

- Expansion of global major merchants into Japan

Support communication between Japanese developers and App Developer team

Essentials:

  • Native in Japanese and Fluent English speaker
  • Ability to work in Japan from Bango Japan Tokyo office
  • Strong business acumen, experience dealing with large enterprise.
  • Experience in a global company dealing with UK/US people of all levels.
  • Strong communicator in both Japanese and English – verbal and written
  • Experience in building close relationships with people of all levels

Desirables:

  •  Experience of direct carrier billing, payments or OTT sales
  •  Capable or reading English legal documents
  •  Understanding of HTTP and web services
  • Technical or support experience

Location

  • The role is based in our Bango Japan Tokyo office
  • Visits to Bango Cambridge UK HQ every 3-4 months
